Whilst you do not need to be trained as a qualified teacher at a school in the UK, you do need to take a TEFL course in order to be able to work in foreign schools teaching English to speakers of other languages. You can still do your full time job whilst carrying out EFL training or another course by taking them on a part-time or distance basis. carrying out your course in the summer means that as soon as winter arrives, you are ready to jet off and become a TEFL teacher.
For those people who do not work in a permanent full-time contract, you can find yourself in exotic countries for half of the year. There are opportunities in Asia, Africa, America, South America and Europe where you can teach English as a foreign language.
You will probably have to pay for your flights however once you are there you should be given discounts off accommodation, the cost of living in most TEFL countries is significantly lower than it is in Britain, and you will experience life changing culture and ways of life.
